WNCS Privacy Policy
When you visit our website and move from page to page, read pages or download content onto your computer, we learn which pages are visited, what content is downloaded, and the address of websites that you were referred from. However, none of this is associated with you as an individual. The information is used to provide overall statistics for the website.
We use this information to find out how many people visit our websites and which pages of the sites are viewed most frequently. This helps us improve the information content to our customers. We record the statistical information on the numbers of visitors to our websites, but no information about you in particular will be retained.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file containing information that a website creates when you visit the site. It can track how and when you use a site, which site you visited immediately before, and it can store that information about you.
There are two common types of cookies, "session cookies" and "persistent cookies". Session cookies store information only for the time that you are connected to a website. Once you leave the website, the cookie is deleted. Persistent cookies are written to your hard drive and they stay on your computer until you delete them. They can be a source of privacy concern if sensitive information is written in the cookie.
WNCS does not use persistent cookies to identify or track our website visitors. We may use session cookies to enhance security and remote authentication for enhanced website functions at a later date.
Email comments, questions or responses
When you send us an email or when you ask us to respond to you by email, we learn your exact email address and any information you have included in the email.
We use your email address to acknowledge your comments and/or reply to your questions, and we will store your communication and our reply in case we correspond further. We will not sell or share your email address to anyone.
Collection, Use & Retention
Before collecting any information from you we will notify you of the purposes for its collection and obtain your consent. Any personal information collected (such as a personal e-mail address or telephone number) will only be used for the purpose that it was obtained and will not be shared with any third parties.
Any information collected may be retained by WNCS for up to seven years depending on the nature of the information and any regulatory retention requirements WNCS may be subject to.
Safeguards
We will protect your information stored in digital form with encryption and strong authentication. Safeguards will use the defence in depth approach and be layered such that there are multiple security barriers preventing unauthorised access to your information.
Any personal information that we collect that is reproduced in a physical form such as a print out will be stored in a secure manner as appropriate given the sensitivity of the information.
WNCS has been sponsored to obtain a federal classified facilities security clearance with document safeguarding. As such WNCS must comply with all requirements of the Industrial Security Manual published by Public Works & Government Services Canada. Accuracy
WNCS will at all times attempt to validate the accuracy of the information before using it. We will make reasonable efforts to keep your information up to date and request that if you do supply us with information, and the information changes that you notify us within 14 days of the change if the change will have any material impact on yourself or your organization.
